Bill Cunningham Bio

Bill is a founder of OneMorePallet (!  He just finished a tour of duty as the director of Northern Kentucky University’s Entrepreneurial Institute and professor in the Entrepreneurship program.  Prior to NKU, he led Diamond Fiber Composites, Inc. (DFC) in Cincinnati, Ohio. DFC manufactures nickel coated carbon fiber used in the aerospace, automotive, electronics, biomedical and defense markets. Before DFC, Bill taught as an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurial Studies at Xavier University and Director of the Xavier Entrepreneurial Center. He taught Starting a New Venture, Managing the New and Growing Venture, Small Business Consulting, Creativity & Innovation, and Interpersonal Skills in the undergraduate and graduate programs in XU’s Williams College of Business. He’s been directly involved with 5 startups and advised, counseled and coached hundreds more.  He holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.

He participated in the Symposium for Entrepreneurial Education at Babson College in 1999. Bill guest lectured at the Amos Tuck School of Business, the University of Cincinnati, Miami University undergraduate and MBA courses and’s Entrepreneurial boot camps. Along with Dr. Charles Matthews (UC) and the late Sutton Landry (NKU), Bill wrote the SmallBizIdeas column for the Cincinnati Post. He won the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Educator of the Year award in June of 1999, and participated in Leadership Cincinnati class XXIII. The Greater Cincinnati Venture Association recognized Bill in May of 2011 with the Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award for his contributions to the entrepreneurial environment.

In 2008, Bill was reappointed to serve as trustee of the Greater Cincinnati Venture Association and serves as the executive director after serving a six year term including a stint as president of the organization in 1999. He served as the GCVA representative to Innovest, Ohio’s premiere venture capital conference. He is currently on the board of advisors for the Hamilton County Business Incubator, Northern Kentucky University’s Entrepreneurial Institute, University of Cincinnati Center for Entrepreneurship, and just finished a 22 year term as vice-chair of the Trustees Search Committee at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Bill has been a mentor and presenter for the Brandery and SpringBoard.

Bill spent the first fifteen years focusing on sales and marketing of high technology products with companies such as AT&T, Data General and Apple Computer. In 1992, Bill helped launch CollegeView, an interactive CD-ROM venture to provide high impact information on higher education to college bound students. After selling his share of the company in 1994, Bill has worked with small businesses addressing startup planning, financing and marketing issues.  His fundraising efforts have resulted in over $23 million in equity financing for 5 different companies.
